Two days before I was slated to paint live in front of thousands, the world tragically lost the legend Kobe Bryant. I shifted my direction of what I was painting and decided to create a memorial of Kobe which proved to be a powerfully emotional and growing opportunity for me. While painting, I was blown away by the hundreds of comments and stories about Kobe Bryant that others stopped to tell me. I came to realize through others testimonials and expressions of gratitude how significant of a role Kobe Bryant had played in so many of our lives. It also allowed me space to process his influence throughout my life and the loss of this legend. That experience solidified this painting as one of my personal favorites.
